Project Overview

I contributed to Hawassa University’s institutional communication activities through bilingual editorial work, translation, newsletter publishing, and communication support.
My work included editing Amharic and English news stories for the university’s quarterly newsletters, translating institutional content from English into Amharic, and contributing to the Amharic script translation of a Hawassa University documentary.
These activities supported the university’s communication with its academic community, stakeholders, and wider audiences through both print and audiovisual media.

Newsletter Editorial Work

I contributed to the editing and preparation of Hawassa University’s quarterly newsletters, including Volumes 13 and 15. My responsibilities included editing news stories in both Amharic and English and helping prepare institutional content for publication.

The newsletters covered university news, academic developments, events, partnerships, research, community initiatives, and other institutional activities.

Documentary & Translation

My bilingual communication work also extended to audiovisual media. I contributed to the Amharic script translation of a Hawassa University documentary, helping adapt institutional content for Amharic-speaking audiences.

This work complemented my newsletter responsibilities and demonstrated the application of translation and editorial skills across both print and audiovisual communication.

Communication Advisory Work

Beyond publication and translation, I provided support related to organizational communication strategies and practices and contributed to institutional communication and partnership-building activities.

Outcome

My work contributed to Hawassa University’s bilingual institutional communication across print and audiovisual media, supporting the preparation of newsletters, translated content, and documentary communication for diverse audiences.
The experience demonstrates my ability to combine editing, translation, institutional storytelling, media communication, and strategic communication within a university environment.
